Microseeps is under the direction of an experienced team of management professionals with proven expertise in laboratory research and geochemical consulting. This management team is supported by a highly experienced staff of analysts, field technicians and administrative personnel.
Dr. Robert J. Pirkle, President

Bob Pirkle has over twenty-five years of experience in geotechnical and geochemistry research and development. After a lengthy tenure with Gulf Research and Development Company and the Geotechnical Research Institute, Dr. Pirkle and his partners founded Microseeps in 1984.
Dr. Pirkle completed undergraduate and graduate studies in Chemistry at Auburn University. In 1973, he obtained the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry from The University of Western Ontario - London, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Pirkle completed Postdoctoral Studies and Research Associateship in Chemistry & Applied Physics at Cornell University. He is a member of the American Chemical Society, the National Ground Water Association, and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. Dr. Pirkle has been a featured speaker at numerous technical symposiums and published extensively in technical publications.
Mr. Thomas W. Hill, Senior Vice President
Tom Hill has more than thirty-five years of technical, management, and entrepreneurial experience in the environmental laboratory industry. Mr. Hill joined Microseeps in 1996 when STAT, Inc, a company he founded, merged with Microseeps. Mr. Hill obtained Master’s Degrees in Forensic Science and Physical Chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh. He completed his undergraduate studies in Chemistry at West Virginia University. He is a member of the American Chemical Society, Phi Lambda Upsilon (Chemistry Honorary), the Society of Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh and the Spectroscopy Society of Pittsburgh. Mr. Hill has authored numerous technical papers and presentations.
Mr. Frank Phillips, Vice President
Frank Phillips has over thirty years of business experience, ten of them in the environmental laboratory industry. His core training in business management and his extensive sales, marketing and customer service experience is a critical asset to the Microseeps team. Mr. Phillips has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Indiana University.
Dr. Pat McLoughlin, Technical Director
Pat McLoughlin has over fifteen years of laboratory and research experience. As Technical Director and Manager of Quality Systems at Microseeps, Dr. McLoughlin is responsible for the laboratory QA/QC program, as well evaluating technical issues and writing technical proposals and reports. Dr. McLoughlin has been responsible for developing new technical applications and currently has two patents pending. Dr. McLoughlin obtained the degree of Doctor of Philosophy with a major in Physical Chemistry from Cornell University. He has a Master of Science degree in Physical Chemistry from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from University of Notre Dame. Dr. McLoughlin has authored numerous technical papers and has numerous presentations at national conferences.
Dominic Nestasie, Laboratory Director
Mr. Nestasie has nearly thirty years of laboratory experience related to civil engineering, geotechnical and environmental applications. His analytical and instrumental expertise includes both general chemistry and instrumental expertise in atomic absorption spectrophotometry (flame and graphite furnace), gas chromatography, gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, total organic halogens, UV/VIS spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, and total organic carbon. Mr. Nestasie has a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry.
Linda Tibensky, Quality Control Coordinator and Safety Supervisor
Ms. Tibensky has an extensive environmental health and safety background. With nearly ten years in the industry, she has substantial experience in the development, implementation, and presentation of training courses including OSHA and EPA Health and Safety, Emergency Response, Hazard Communication, Confined Space Entry, DOT, and Control of Hazardous Energy. In addition to serving as the corporate safety supervisor, Ms. Tibensky is responsible for ensuring that Standard Operating Procedures are implemented and conducting regular internal quality audits. Ms. Tibensky has an Associate’s Degree in Environmental Technology and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Resources Management.
